About Dr. Sandipan Dasgupta

Dr. Sandipan Dasgupta is an accomplished pharmaceutical academician, researcher, and administrator with over 16 years of teaching and more than 15 years of dedicated research experience including as a UGC Fellow. He is also having 3 years of Industrial experience. He is currently serving as Head of the Department at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. Dr. Dasgupta holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2016) from Dibrugarh University, Assam, an M.Pharm. in Pharmacology (2008) under BPUT, and a B.Pharm. (2002). His academic journey has been enriched by industry exposure, having worked at Cipla Ltd. and Unichem Labs, where he gained valuable insights into pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and quality documentation.
Dr. Dasgupta’s research expertise spans pharmacology, nanomedicine, drug delivery systems, and cancer immunotherapy. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals and contributed to over 10 book chapters with leading publishers. He is also serving as an editor in various publishers such as springer etc.
He has also authored a book on Gut Microbiota and Disease Pathways, reflecting his growing interest in microbiota research.
In addition, he holds two patents—one on lipid nanoparticle-based anti-tubercular drug delivery and another on a biomedical device for inducing emphysema in animal models. Beyond research, he has delivered invited talks at various national and international conferences.
